IDRIS Adio Jamiu – Social Welfare Officer
Idris Adio Jamiu is a committed Social Welfare Officer with a strong focus on child care justice and community rehabilitation. He is a graduate of Sociology and Anthropology from the reputable University of Ilorin.
He began his professional journey in the private sector before joining the Lagos State Government under the Ministry of Youth and Social Development. Over the years, he has served in various key departments, including:
Correctional Centre for Junior Boys, Birrel
Old People's Home, Sabo
Family Social Services
Rehabilitation Department (Rescue Unit)
Idris holds the distinction of being the pioneer Social Welfare Officer in Nigeria for the Diversion Community Rehabilitation Program, an alternative sentencing initiative for children in conflict with the law, sponsored by UNICEF.
In his continued dedication to social work, he currently serves as a Medical Social Worker at Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja. He has led the Social Welfare Unit in various specialized areas, including the Paediatric Section, Stroke Ward, and is presently heading the unit at the Burns and Trauma Centre, LASUTH Annex, Gbagada.
Idris is an active and long-standing member of the Nigeria Association of Social Workers (NASoW). He has contributed to numerous committees and currently serves as the Auditor of the NASoW Lagos State Chapter.
